Our story so far

Irish  entrepreneur and master chocolatier, Louise O’ Brien embarked upon her Moonriver Chocolate journey in 2011. The business grew from a successful e commerce website to the launch of our first retail store in 2012. We have gained a reputation for producing fine quality fresh chocolates from our in house developed recipes, which are unique to us.

Louise holds a degree in Engineering from the University of Limerick and ran her own successful management system consultancy business for twenty years. Louise is also a Belgium trained “Master Chocolatier”, Chocolate is my passion and I always knew that one day I would follow this passion and dream of having my very own chocolate business. What’s not to like. Who could not like working with chocolate, life doesn’t get much better than this.

Artistic skill, passion and creativity are the cornerstones of our business. We thrive on developing new chocolate recipes and constantly developing new products.


Real chocolate needs real ingredients and Moonriver chocolate is pioneering a 'less sugar, more cocoa' approach to recipes, allowing the true flavours to shine through.


There is a huge disparity between those who enjoy fine chocolate and the subsistence cocoa growers who nurture the beans. We source our raw material from fair trade companies.
